Embarking on parenthood is the start of the most amazing and challenging journey!
There will be highs – those wonderful ‘firsts’, kisses, proud feelings, special cuddles and the most overwhelming and all-consuming LOVE
… And there will be lows! The sleep deprivation, the tantrums, tears … the guilt and never ending ‘am I doing the right thing?’ questions!
The thing with parenting is that its rather unchartered territory in many ways! What worked for your mum might not work for you. What worked with your first may not work with your second, and what worked last week wont work today!
Every child, every parent, every home and every situation is different!
So know that you may not get it right all the time – but that doesnt mean its wrong, either!
Good luck on your new journey! We wish you all the best and hope that you enjoy the road you have embarked upon!Our best piece of advice is….. “listen to everything everyone tells you, read the books … take it all in. Then decide what will work best for you and your family and try it! And if it doesnt work… try something else!”
We also hope that you will learn to have confidence in yourself and your parenting skills, that you listen to your instinct and do what is right for you, and that most of all, you have fun and treasure the moments!
Ashlee’s Notes: I tend towards a more natural attachment parenting style. It’s not the only way, it is not necessarily the best way. But it works for me (most of the time!).
But not all of my website is that way. My parenting ideals are always changing and some of these ideas I dont necessarily agree with. But maybe they worked for me before, or maybe they have worked for someone else. Much of the website is REAL-LIFE parents’ ideas and tips …. and I hope you find something that works for you!
