TUESDAY TOP TIP – 28 July 09
Here are a couple of kitchen cleaning tips that might save some dollars too!!!
*If you’ve got burnt-on food in a pot, simply put the pot back on the element with enough water to cover the bottom. Add half a cup of vinegar and wait until the solution is quite warm, then add a sprinkling of baking soda (be careful because the water will bubble and rise quickly – just remove from the element for a second until it subsides!). Let it boil for a few minutes and hopefully everything will come of or at least loosen!
Another way is to add dishwashing liquid to the pot when the water is boiling.
*Shine your kitchen sink with baking soda! Sprinkle the baking soda around the sink edges, over the drain, across the bench and the drying/draining surface. Use the dishbrush to scrub the sink and around the taps, and use a cloth to wipe the benches etc. Everything will really sparkle!! (Of course, some surfaces wont like this treatment so if you are unsure, be sure to check with your kitchen manufacturer or in an inconspicuous spot!)
*Clean mugs that have coffee stains with salt!
*Pop your dishbrush into the dishwasher occasionally to give it a clean!
*Buy kitchen cloths that can be washed several times – this means you can use a fresh clean cloth every day (minimising the spread of bugs and bacteria) without the cost!
